This workshop meets every Tuesday night from 7-10pm. The class dates are October 16, 23, 30, and November 6, 2018
In the opera theatre thanks to surtitles, audiences can easily follow the dialogue and the story. More, then, is expected from the singers than just great voices and vague stabs at the meaning of the words: we expect them to be specific and to embody the characters they are singing.
The method and various tools are offered to help singers find their way into developing their roles and understanding the dramatic action of a scene.
These examination of the scenes chosen will be a basic method for the preparation of characters in all operas, voice types or time periods. The techniques offered will also include some basic stage craft.
Singers are encouraged to apply as a pre-formed ensemble and are expected to come to the workshop musically prepared and memorized. Due to the nature of this workshop, we will only be able to have 10 singers participate. The cost of the workshop is $200 per singer.
